01/24/2022n48 minute hold time on the phone to set up an appointment for a name change after getting married. The website says only name changes like this can be done in the office. After 48 minutes on hold I am answered by a women with a child screaming in the back ground, unable to hear barely anything she puts me on hold again just to find out when she came back that I can submit the application through mail. She stated I had to mail the original copy of our marriage certificate only, while online states a certified copy can be sent. She also stated to send in a copy of my drivers license in which the website states that is a form of ID you do not need if sending an app in the mail.nnVery Unprofessional and irritating with the false information

Absolutely the most horrendous and slipshod office I've ever dealt with in any state. They perpetuate misinformation and were extremely sloppy in their handling of multiple clients. Their reputation for being unreliable and inaccurate is well known within multiple communities who have been forced to deal with their office.

My wife and I recently had dealings with the Fort Gratiot office. To say we were impressed would be a gross understatement. The treatment we received was fast and empathetic. Actually, we were blown away by the kindness and understanding shown by the two workers we met with, and also with the employee we dealt with on the phone. No words can truly express how we feel about how we were handled. Thanks so much to all of you involved.

Unless you get there an hour before they open to get in right away you will end up waiting a good amount of time. Most of the employees I have met with were knowledgeable and friendly. They need to offers services that allow you to go online and set a time for an appointment like the Secretary of State provides. If you go online and ensure you take all of the paperwork needed you will have a much better experience.

First, I'd like to thank the staff for their knowledge and fast, courtesy service to the public. Everyone I encountered at this location was super friendly and polite. Honestly, I believe people treat you how you treat them.. if you're rude, you may take their behavior as rude. Be friendly to get friendly service. It's pretty simple to understand. 5 star! Would recommend this location.. Fast service, no waiting all day.

I dont normally write bad reviews on Google. Came here after getting my original ss card from my mom. I came to this specific ss facility for a shorter wait time than waiting hours in metro Detroit. The wait time was shorter but at a cost of poor service. The man assisting me asked me rudely why I was at this location. He didn't have anything to say after I told him I grew up in this city. After denying me the name change I wanted, and telling me I had to use my middle name with my new married legal name, he couldn't explain why I had to keep my middle name other than it was incorrect on the marriage license. I didn't even have my middle name on the marriage license. He further informed me that if I would want to change my name again I would have to go through an appeal process through the court system. The whole reason I came to change my name in the first place was because I am officially married now, and I had my maiden name and married name on the license. At the end, he laughed and said,Congrats on getting married, well I guess it wasn't that recent. After, he took my original ss card and stated that I don't need it anymore without asking my permission. Please review your staffs ability to create good customer service.nnTwo weeks later I went to a different location and got my name changed the way I wanted it without snide remarks or unexplained reasons.nnAbout 4 months later, an administrator called about this incident and wanted to know more about what happened. Thank you for your concern. Maybe the entire building is not to blame, but this worker needs to improve his communication skills.

Just this afternoon I spoke to a gentleman the Social Security Administration and told him at the beginning of the conversation that I had 2 things to discuss. We discussed prescription benefits and I told him I had trouble understanding it. He did try but seemed in a hurry to end the call. And he did. I didn't get a chance to ask my second question. He was in a hurry and didn't seem to care if I understood. I just found out I may qualify to collect some of my ex husbands benefits.I'm having serious financial difficulties and it is important to start this process right now. I tried to apply online but there was a problem there too! NOT a good experience.

I've always received quick and courteous service. I don't think people realize just how good it is, compared to government services in most parts of the world, and I've dealt with a lot of them.

A complete joke people who work there are very rude they keep everyone waiting as if no one is there and every time you call you have to wait 2 hours to talk to someone!!!!!!!!!! They really need to get their acts together I would of rated no stars but it wouldn't let me. Once again compete joke that place needs to be looked at.
