My SS Card was mailed to the wrong address, and there is no way to update your address online. You have to mail in an application and a government ID (not a copy) and wait for them to get it and hope they send it back with the SS card. I opted to go in person and was told by the armed security guard that wearing a mask inside is the law which it is not. They made me leave the facility, would not speak to me, and said they could have the police come and arrest me for trespassing. The folks who walked in after me, a married couple, were made to sit six feet apart in their empty waiting room and two employees came out to the waiting room without masks on. This is a great way for govt employees to do even less work by putting in place these nonsense restrictions. Why do they even have armed security to begin with?

Words can't describe my particular representative. She could not understand my issue. Could not have cared less. Was dismissive. I understand good people are hard to find and employ at this point in history but my issue was pretty simple. A large overpayment of Medicare premiums and how to get that overpayment back. No offer to investigate. Took no information from me.

It is extremely upsetting since the birth of my child that I have yet to receive the SS#. Theyapparentlysent out my child's number and card via USPS two weeks after the birth of our child. But 7 months later, we have yet to receive it.nnAfter waiting 4 months for it. We decided to call the Annapolis office for answers. First two attempts, two women hung up on me. The third attempt, a gentleman was nice enough to walk through the process of the SS-5 information. After filing the SS-5 form and submitting original documentation, I am still struggling to receive the information we need. Still to this day, 7 months since the birth of my child, we have yet to receive her information. The trust in both this office and the USPS has been lost.nnI would greatly appreciate if hopefully someone from SSA reads this and contacts me to help with my child's identification number.

So there is a maximum of 6 people allowed in the SSA. When it reaches compacity you must wait outside. This info is not posted for you to see until you are inside the lobby. Last week I witnessed a handicapped elderly man having difficulty walking with a walker and clearly having breathing issues ask the security officer if he could either sit inside the breezeway or could he get a chair so he could sit down. The officer stated they would check with Management and then came back after checking and told the man NO per management. When I got inside there were several chairs NOT in use. Its a disgrace that they would not offer him a seat. Shame on a Federal Agency treating Elderly and Handicapped people so poorly. DO BETTER SSA MANAGEMENT!

How are COVID restrictions in any way relevant to which office I can visit? I was told that only people in Annapolis zip codes can visit the Annapolis SSA office. i would love to see the federal COVID guidelines that say I can only visit one specific federal office. Is there a special COVID-free bubble in Annapolis? One star because a gentleman did answer the phones, however, he hung up on me when I challenged the policy that discriminates by geography.

I am a non national that gained legal resident status and applied to the D.H.S. and the S.S.A. with the same form, the D.H.S. got my information correct but the S.S.A. got my date of birth wrong. So I followed the procedure and mailed in my documents. I then got my documents and new card back within 4 weeks. I then found out that the information had not been updated. So I rang the Annapolis office and was told to repeat the process. I did so. Got my documents and new card back. I then found that once again my information had not been updated. I rang the Annapolis office 5 days in a row, and left a message with a member staff every day. Each time being told theywill contact me by end of day with an updateit was only when I continued to ring and ask for a specific member of staff that they were somewhat cooperative. I eventually got told to repeat the process AGAIN. Given the fact that the staff there can't remember to ring someone back or even process information correctly I am forced to go to another branch. Absolutely disgraceful, the staff there are by all outward appearances less than useless.

The worse experience ever over a phone. I am really patient and understandable with this kind of call I have been really nice explaining my situation and he hand out on my two time. I do not understand how he can answer the phone with that actitud

I am APPALLED at the level of poor, rude, unhelpful service being provided by most government offices now a days. SSA not being the exception.nnI called my local SSA office in Annapolis, MD for a question, and I literally get a u201cIu2019m not dealing with youu201d and an immediate hang up after asking a following up question to what I needed. I donu2019t think I was even 30 seconds into the conversation. Did I even get a name or any sort of identification to report this person? No. If you even try calling back, the call itself hangs up after a few minutes wait time.nnWhat if I ran my business the way these offices ran these offices now a days? These are taxpayer funded offices that are set to provide a SERVICE that we fund through our taxes, yet are treated as an inconvenience. Sickening!

I have never in my life been spoken to in such a rude manner. I spoke to a guy who went by the name Johnson whom clearly hate his job. He has no patience and lack communication skills. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor he told me no and hung up. At this point I'm not even sure if I'll recieve the documents I requested. He was very hostile and condescending. I'm surprised that they would have such rude people working in an establishment such as this.

On the few occasions that I had to deal with the Annapolis Social Security office, I always a very good and professional response. You have to expect to wait so be prepared to do so. In the current COVID-19 environment all transactions are conducted verbally over the phone and/or fax. I recently had an issue with Medicare Part B IRMA payment and I was given expert advice by Mr. Hawkins in the Annapolis office. Mr Hawkins called me back personally and professionally addrssed my concerns. I followed the advice offered by Mr. Hawkins and within 3 weeks the Social Security Administration lowered my IRMA to the proper level. Had it not been for Mr. Hawkins counsel, I would be paying much more for Part B. It is nice to know we have professionals in our local Social Security office.

Like other customers have said, this office is VERY rude. I also called the office this morning to ask a question on getting a duplicate social security card for my child and was repeatedly interrupted by a male every time I tried to talk. If he doesnu2019t like doing customer service, he should seek employment somewhere else that doesnu2019t involve him working with customers.

Although it was difficult to get through the line, once I did, the employee I spoke to was very helpful and friendly and solved my problem quickly. I appreciated his help and guidance. I wish I got his name to recognize him specifically. The call took place 8/20 at 917am.

I've visited 3 times over the past 2 years. Yesterday was a notable improvement. Seems to reflect attention to process and to the reality that customers don't understand the system as well as the professional who work there. There's a surge of people waiting at the 9AM opening time. A pleasant woman helped that series of people register and answered questions. She also noted that some people might be speak to a representative, then asked to complete some paperwork, then return to the window. This seemed to help with workflow in my case. And, there was a careful explanation at the end of my conversation of what would happen next, and what timing to expect.

The lady who made my appointment was phenomenal and so was the gentleman who did my phone appointment both were very polite and professional both experiences went very smoothly

My call was picked up almost immediately. I had a very friendly helpful conversation with Ms. Smith and the reason for my call was handled quickly and professionally. Could not have been easier, thank you Ms. Smith!

Hi yes to whom it may concern. I just talked to a very nice man named Robert, he helped me so much. At first I was scared I didn't know if the person was going to be nice. But he knew his work helped me with alot of things. I just want to say again thank you Robert. I called S.S.I yesterday and I had a very rude lady we didn't get far she didn't help me at all that's why I call again today.

The rudest people I have ever met. It took me 3 weeks to be able to get an appointment. Itu2019s as if talking to me is a burden. They were condescending and just plain mean on the phone. There is no difference in person.
    Denisa Protani
The wait was not that long and the gentleman was helpful and sent me the form I needed. All and all a great experience.
    Walter Johnson
Not a great experience, but better than expected.nnThe decor is clearly lacking, but no one will accuse this office of wasting taxpayers' money on fancy digs.nnThe system to control customer flow is basically sound. The wait was only half an hour. The representative wasn't particularly helpful, and discouraged questions, but she wasn't discourteous, and the transaction was modestly successful.nnI've had worse treatment from smaller bureaicracies.

My wife and I went the Soc Sec Admin in Annapolis the week of March 13th 2017. It is not my habit to judge people but the man working with us did not seem to bright. After waiting about 45 min. our number was called. We needed to correct my wife's name. We had what we thought we needed. It turns out we needed additional information. He verified the paperwork we had and we returned home to get the additional information he requested. When we returned with the requested information he wanted to see the information he had verified earlier. My wife put the first paperwork that was verified down in our home and grabbed the requested information. We returned to the Soc Sec office and he wanted the newly requested information and the same information that he had already verified. When I suggested that he had already reviewed that information he got angry and said he is not going to lose his job for me. We returned home again, we only had 30 min to go and make it back. We made it back just at 4pm. The guard had not locked the door and the TV had just turned off. The same man that sent us back home a third time for paperwork that he had already reviewed would not see us saying the office was closed. Please note, he only needed to see the paperwork, not make copies. This was very inconsiderate on his part and we were very disappointed that our efforts did not bare fruit that day. I took the day off to take care of it, and I believe this man could have made things go smoothly for us, and simply chose not to. The two stars was because the guard was helpful.

The most rude people I have ever dealt with. They made me so mad, I left my paperwork in their box they have there if you don't want to wait. They never even completed the changes I had reported. They started and never finished. Now I'm told I have to come there for them to finish? Does that make sense? And the people there are more suited to work in a prison than social security office with the way they treat people and talk down to you. Sad thing is they had mostly older clients waiting and it stinks to think an elderly person would be treated with such disrespect. They are horrible

My husband and I went to the Social Security Administration in Annapolis today to sign up for Social Security and Medicare. After driving an hour to get there, we checked in at the computer kiosk and proceeded to wait for our turn. We waited over an hour (the number didnu2019t change for the whole hour) and went to the window. I was expecting this to be an unpleasant experience, but nothing would have prepared me for the rudeness, lack of helpfulness, etc. that we encountered. When we told the u201ccustomer service repu201d we wanted to sign up, he asked us if we had an appointment. We had visited the Dept of Aging and were told that an appointment wasnu2019t necessary. He then told us that we were at the wrong agency. (There is no Social Security Administration in our county.) He said it would take 25 minutes to do and he didnu2019t have time. He then wasted another 25 minutes of our time setting up a phone appointment for January. I donu2019t believe that I have ever encountered a more rude, disinterested u201ccivil servant.u201d When we questioned why he couldnu2019t help us, the guard came over to see if u201ceverything was ok.u201d If they didnu2019t have time to process our request, why werenu2019t we told that when we checked in. I am absolutely disgusted with this office. The first Monday of the month and only 3 windows were open???? This personu2019s excuse was that they were understaffed. I am not at all impressed with this office!!!

This will be my 3rd day going to SSA in Annapolis. First day I arrived, I waited, then we were all told they were closing at 1pm but there was no snow coming! It rained and if they had listened and watched the weather, they wouldnhave known! Second day I arrived before they opened...went it, waited for a very short time but then was told no one was there to assist me for the reasons I was there! Let's see what awaits me this morning. This is not acceptable!

Iu2019ve never dealt with so incompetent people in my entire life! Long story that I donu2019t want to bore you with but Iu2019m extremely disappointed in how theyu2019re handling things or more not handling ANYTHING. Iu2019m not even sure they work. Iu2019m looking into a complaint cause itu2019s not acceptable!!

I would like to thank Mrs Collins and the lady who directed me to her.I can only imagine what they have to go thru and the stress of their jobs when the truth of the matter is they are like most of us, over worked and under paid.

It is a dreadful place. The security guard, who has been there for years NEEDS TO GO. He is rude with EVERYONE. What's his problem? The staff act like they would rather be doing anything else and, I hate to say it, are somewhere between unhelpful and stupid. This place is the opposite of good customer service. I guess if you get a federal job and you are certain you can never be fired, why try to be nice? I can't think of enough bad things to say. I didn't want to give them one star but they won't let you post no stars.

Spoke with two of the most sarcastic, nastiest and rudest representatives I've ever spoken to. Cut me off mid sentence multiple times, refused to give me a supervisor and was hung up on by a man named Johnson.

My wife and I had a scheduled appt, on 12/11/15. We wanted to pursue the elect and suspend strategy with one of us collecting spousal benefits. We were flat out told we could not do it because of the change in the law brought about in the Bi-Partisan Budget Act of 2015. The agent we met with was quite smug and seemed to enjoy delivering that news. But as it turns out, she was wrong. That is still available to us and now we have to go back in and do it all over again. Its amazing to me that we pay these people to do a job for us and yet they are ignorant of the nuances in law. It's taken me a month to get a clear picture of what we can and cannot do. I should not have had to go through that. The person whose job it is to know should have handled this in our first meeting. I wish I remembered the agents name that we met with so she could be reported to someone higher up in the agency. But that assumes someone higher up is even going to care.

Rude and inconsiderate. Put in my information wrong on first visit and offered no help as to where the card with my infant sons number may have gone becauseI don't work for the post office. Then closed the curtain when I tried to explain my concern and said he couldn't help me.
