**** If you are experiencing issues at this office contact your local Congressman. They have a Congressional Unit that can step in and assist***nnOriginal documents I submitted were lost and never delivered back to me. This is highly suspicious since i am seeing other reviews echoing this same situation. Something is definitely going on at the Alexandria Office.nnThe people who answer the phones are also extremely rude. Who does quality and control? Being hung up on, spoken over, talked down to is inappropriate and should not be accepted as your protocol. Itu2019s a pattern in all of your u201crepresentativesu201d.

What is the matter with this country? I was told by SS rep to call at 9:00 am to get an appointment to submit original documents in person. I have been on hold for 40 minutes and have not heard one word or recording that I am connected. The least an office can do is to let the caller know what the call status is. It's unbelievable.

Why don't you pick up if you are saying that you are phone service only?! Ridiculous! So many people in this country depend on social security admin services for so many things. I am shocked to see that they don't even bother to pick up the phone. Also, at least make your website more informative. I have a simple task to complete and I can't find any information anywhere. The website specifically says that I have to contact a field office for this. My career and livelihood are at risk here because of your incompetence.

The security treats people with contempt under the pretext of covid 19 and says an appointment and people are not allowed to ask employees

I got lucky getting through on the phone after no luck at Reston, but thanks to Ms Ford for acknowledging my unusual situation and getting me in for an appointment at my insistence.nnThey let appointments in at 1pm sharp, but then don't give you a call number at the window so you kind of have to be assertive and just walk up to a window when they saynextbecause there's no actual way of knowing who is next.nnHope SSA figures out how to move a lot of things to online self-service since most offices seem to be slammed.

One of the WORST places to try and get help. If I could have put 0 stars I would have. The phone lines open at 9am, I called about 905am and was able to speak to a live agent. Of course, not only was the agent rude and seemed irritated with my call, soon after asking to speak to a supervisor, I was told that there isnu2019t one and she hung up the phone. I then call back, now this time waiting on the phone for about 25 minutes or so. Finally someone answers the phone but all I can hear on the other line is the sound of people talking in the background. When I say hello, the phone disconnects again.nThe sad part is, there is no one to check and make sure that the social security employees are being respectful and trying to help the person in need to the best of their ability.nItu2019s frustrating that for months now Iu2019ve been trying to get help and still have yet to get it.nIu2019ve tried going up to the office, making an appointment but was told that what I need help with, they currently are not assisting people in person, only particular cases.nNot only is it unhelpful but itu2019s a burden to continue to call, just to get incomplete answers, hang up calls and disrespect.nIf you have to contact this office in anyway, good luck getting a clear, concrete answer.nEvery time I do speak to someone, the result and answer is always different, even though the problem is still the same. In need of help and they do not care.

1st visit at new location, used to be down Edsall near ServiceSource/LMEC but moved, don't know when...nnLine outside, I was 8th then woman jumped line at pole. Guy fell, tripod chair but OK. no bike parking there so locked to bench nearby. No food allowed, supposed to mask even in line which wouldn't self distance at 6' each. Cold to be outside but 0900a arrived, Staff woman came out and gave instruction, interrupted by people in the back of the line who couldn't hear, welcome to NY I think I said, like heckled or something, Ellis Island: give us your tired sick poor, well the talk: they administer the disabled system in USA (Medicare too?) And person next to you may be stage 4 cancer so careful mask up for them. Inside few 6' spots to stand at, then room guy there PuertoRico hat & mask did my bene letter saving me 5 minutes in another line. 6' chairs blocked out, bathroom inside but left, woman outside asking get soc sec card for husband, idk how. Asian Guy took photo I yelled no photos he did anyways, other oddities. Y(M|Km|nm)MV

It's 94 degrees outside. They are letting very small amount people inside due to COVID-19. There's no covering, shade or water outside. I called SSA customer service to let them know. The rep reached out to the manager who did nothing. This is inhumane. If someone dies that's going to be due to heat. Not covid.

I sent my license and my forms were returned WITHOUT any license!!! Been trying to get submit name change forms for the past year almost, and today received a rejection letter today despite sending my REAL license. Now my license has been lost either in the mail or getting from the post office to social security office, but my license is LOST and now I will not be able to drive for another two weeks now that I have to ask dmv for a replacement. Iu2019m so upset, I was warned about sending my actual documents and shouldu2019ve listened. When will IN PERSON visits be available so peopleu2019s important documents donu2019t get lost?!!

Absolutely the worst! Donu2019t answer calls wants paperwork but there is no way to dropnIt off! Appointment only but no way to make an appointment. These are peoples lives and to them its just a 9-5. Took over an hour to get someone on the phone.

My calls to the Reston location kept getting me hung up on after being on hold for over 15 minutes every time I attempted to call, and without ever speaking to a real human. I only tried calling Alexandria location once and they answered after 7-8 minutes on hold, and the staff answered all my questions quickly.

This place is hell. They like to waste your time if you donu2019t u201chave an appointmentu201d yet they donu2019t have the decency to answer the phones when you try to schedule an appointment.

They never sent my son's SS card in the mail when he was born, refused to help. Spoke with a manager who explained exactly what was needed to get a new one. Spoke with another office worker who explained a different set of criteria. I provided BOTH sets just incase. They responded with a vague letter written by a 3rd grader not explaining what was missing or required. Typical lazy government worker. They love the pandemic and the fact that they no longer have to work.

I have been calling the office after submitting my personal documents last week and no one is answering the phone, I was told no appointments were being made and my friend just told me he was able to make an appointment and now my documents are there and I havent heard from anyone, I am worried and concerns especially when I keep hearing people are losing documents.

If I could give less than one star I would. I sent in my passport to get a new social security card in March 2020. I received the card no problem but getting my passport back was unnecessarily painful. I only just received it back yesterday, April 2021, over a year later. Despite numerous calls over the past year, no one could tell me what the status of it was or even where it was. I ended up having to get the supervisors contact numbers and after leaving multiple messages, one of them finally decided to call me back over three weeks ago. They told me it had been attempted to be mailed to me last May but had been returned even though I had forwarded all my mail to my new address. No one, over the course of multiple months and calls, told me this. I was then told it would be mailed to my new address and it never was because I called the other supervisor a few days ago and it was still in their lost and found. It literally has my name and contact info in it and I've called a dozen times and gave them my new address months ago. This office failed in both customer service support and work ethic. Don't trust any reviews that gives this office more than one star.

I requested an appointment over the phone on October of last year, they gave me an appointment for January, when waiting for their call I noticed that they were 1 hour late. I called back to ask about my appointment, for them just to say that they never logged it in. Meaning no appointment for me and that is, of course after waiting on the phone for more than 30 minutes for them just to hang up, called back just to wait more and get some attitude immature person on the phone. not sure if they are using sub teleworkers. anyways, I requested to be assured that my next appointment is going to be available and properly assigned to me. the person over the phone tells me that he will send the email to his supervisor for him to review and call me back. I requested appointment and I was ignored again. when calling it keeps saying they are busy and the automatic voice response just saycall laterand hangs up.nnI have been trying to fix this issues literally for almost 1/2 a year. great!!!

I've been trying for months to get an updated SS card (name change). The website gives conflicting information on what documentation is needed. The offices are closed to see anyone in person and they aren't taking phone calls (the automated system just hangs up on you). What exactly are we supposed to do?

I am trying to get my deceased mothers 1099 sent from this office and am stuck in a loop of them telling me it will get mailed, and then nothing happening. They don't tell my why they aren't mailing it. I call when it doesn't get mailed and get promised it will get mailed, and nothing. They say it is because they are working at home and can't talk to the people in the Office. I can't pay my mom's taxes without this and this is beyond frustrating. I am at around 3 months trying to get it mailed.

They just put me on hold with out saying a word their customer service is terrible I if I donu2019t get help Iu2019ll escalate to my Congress man office maybe they can help

I wish there were less than 1star rating the customer service is the worst you have to wait 30 minutes to be connected as soon they answer the phone they will drop it without communication

Not the funnest to wait in line before the office opens (had not figured out how to get an appointment, but it's obviously possible from what I saw inside). Got in about an hour before: 15 people were already standing in line... Had the nice surprise to see SSA employees open the place about 10' early to let people in... a little bit more wait inside in line to get my ticket... and a few more minutes till I was called. After this, the two different individuals who took care of my situation were outstanding, helpful, effective, thorough. Got everything taken care of and more. Very thankful for this quality of service... once the wait was over.

This is the first time I rate a SSA office. During COViD I though going through this process was a mess. But for my surprise, the process was incredible, fast, on point, even a letter from the processing officer, and mailed back all my original documentation within 2 weeks. Iu2019m very happy and proud of this SSA office! Keep it up!

Can it get any worse?nSubmitted my application for a SS card replacement 3 months ago but I still did NOT receive my SS card and my original documents including my Green Card. I called them at least 5 times, they promise to check and call back but they never do. Is it a government administration or an office for a bunch scammers and unprofessional people? I don't know what to do I am totally exhausted :(

I recently mailed OFFICIAL government documents to this office for a name change from marriage (OFFICIAL Birth certificate, OFFICIAL Passport, and OFFICIAL marriage license) as directed. I was hesitant being these are official documents that are needed for various other activities. I was told they would wait 4-5 days to open the mail, due to COVID, and review and send them back IMMEDIATELY. I sent them Priority Certified mail and they were delivered on 9-28. It is now 10-7 and each time i call there is no record of them being entered into their system.nWhat happened to opening within the same week and mailing back? You do realize there are people that have to mail their drivers license, should they not be driving? Should law enforcement give forgiveness for people not having a license on them due to SSA holding them?nToday, the call agent that took my call was extremely rude, constantly interrupting me - then having the audacity to call ME irate for wanting my documents back? (management, please review your calls to see how SHE was irate and I was not!) and told me they have ONE PERSON IN THE MAILROOM WITH HIGH MAIL VOLUME. First of all, if you are requiring everyone to MAIL important government documents, you would think you would staff the room appropriately to get the items sorted, entered, processed, and mailed back IMMEDIATELY. Management do your job, and maybe you should be picking up the slack and also assisting the matter. This is appalling, and this office site will be held personally responsible if people are UNABLE TO VOTE IN LESS THAN A MONTH DUE TO NOT HAVING OFFCIAL FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION. I will be reaching out to local government officials regarding this matter...and maybe even further up.

My suggestion is to not go on Monday morning. There has to be a better day.nnMy wife and I showed up at 8:25am, before they open. There were 40-50 people ahead of us waiting for the office to open the doors. Once the doors opened it took about 30 minutes to get inside the building with the amount of people in front of us that were waiting for the doors to open.nnIt took us 2 hours to get a number and an hour and a half to be called to the window.nnMy wife and I were rotating who sits and stands while waiting in line to receive a number, which was nice to make the hour-and-a-half wait once we entered the building less grueling.nnI have posted two photos of the outside line. One picture before we got in line and one picture after we left the building, 3.5 to 4 hours later.nnWe were there to request original Social Security card for my permanent resident spouse. All we had to do was show the Visa stamp, not the I-94, and her passport with birth certificate to prove age. We had the form filled out already before we got in line. She arrived here as a spouse of a citizen a month agonnI realized while standing in line that there is a customer service number. I have not tried it but if you don't realize there is try it and let me know how it goes I'm wiling to bet you would be waiting an hour on hold just to get simple questions answered.

This is the most unprofessional social security office in the US. I have gotten treated so horribly by the front desk clerk, itu2019s unbelievable. They have lines all the way to the parking lot in the rain and they only have one clerk to issue a number. It took me 3 hours just to receive a number and again another 2 hours. I had to deal with them about the same issue and I canu2019t even speak to a supervisor. They seem to forget itu2019s our tax money that pay their salary. I am trying to find the next chain of command over this specific office to file a complaint. By the way, the number doesnu2019t not reflect the numbers being called out properly hence many people seem to miss their number. Get a lesson from the DMV at least. I recommend to Stay away from this place. supervision needs to do something about their unprofessional staff!

This office is the worst one ever I visit, canu2019t find anyone to give you information the front desk guard not understand anything and she gives you the number to call but the number is not working or when ringing nobody answer the call.

Impossible to reach them in any reasonable fashion by phone, and information they provide, depending on whom one talks to, is contradictory.
