My wife tried to get her social security card changed twice and both times they spelled her name wrong. Canu2019t go into the office to talk to someone because they are closed due to Covid. They wonu2019t let her schedule an appointment with someone because it u201cisnu2019t necessary.u201d When we call we get put on hold for hours at a time. I expected nothing less from a government organization. We pay enough in taxes that we should be able to speak with someone in person and they should at least be able to get a simple name change done, especially when we give them two attempts at it. Wish there was another way to get it done since there is clearly no accountability in the social security office.

If I could give no stars, I would - these people have been rude and unhelpful for more than a year. I've been hung up on multiple times for just asking questions, I've been sent the wrong person's SS number and rejection, and while still on call have been treated poorly. I'm 18 and have never had my own SS card or ID, have applied online and through the mail only to be rejected. I've requested an emergency appointment to no avail and am now bordering on being homeless, jobless, and without an education because these people refuse to do their job. I feel like my future is pretty important and I deserved that appointment, now months later I'm losing everything without that card.

How can tax payer's money be used more effectively? Terrible terrible service and they are getting paid to stay home sitting on their buttt. Agents and managers need to be fired and replaced with new competent people who actually want and need to work.nJanetnDemocratic

They are awful. They returned my sons application for a replacement card needing more info and we sent everything back with the requested info and they lost all of our documents including his passport and birth certificate and my identifying documentation. Then they have the nerve after we still donu2019t have a Ss card to say u201cyou didnu2019t even need the addl info in the first place because of his age, that was a mistake.u201d So now weu2019ve spent months trying to replace documents and his passport and we leave for vacation in 2 days and we still donu2019t have it so heu2019s probably not able to go. Itu2019s been absolutely horrendous and the woman manager they have takes no accountability and is very rude.nnWeu2019ll update May 2022 and now my identity was stolen. Strangely the accounts were taken out in my previous married name/social, all the docs of mine that were sent to this office. Iu2019m convinced that they were selling personal documents on the black web. I will be taking my complaints further through social security.

I have never been treated so poorly by a government employee. I called in asking questions about a letter received on the mail. I began asking questions and the man was incredibly rude. He kept cutting me off and not letting me speak. He then told me that I was lying when I said I spoke with someone a few weeks ago and was told the something different. I just had questions and was treated like dirt for being a human who didnu2019t have information and needed help.

This level of service would be unacceptable of a McDonald's, let alone a government office. Not even a a sign on the door explaining that they're closed, failing to provide the essential services which they are charged by law to be perform, except in the laziest most token of ways.

Why or how is it possible I'm still disabled and am getting no help. The reps must be robots with no heart or empathy. I've been waiting to be reinstated since December. How do you get denied reinstatement when I'm still disabled? I'm so frustrated with the lack of communication and help from this office. I've only spoken to one person whose been helpful in the last 9 months. I'm sick to my stomach. No income unable to work full time I'm at a list for words. This is a joke I have worked since I was 12 paid my taxes and it's like I'm unable to get help. Lord help me because I'm losing the little bit of sanity I have left.

Sent my application july 15 2021 and have been calling every week to see if they already processed my application they received it july 19 but nope nothing has been done. They have my application alright but havenu2019t been process yet. Had an update on august 5 and wrong name is in the site. It shouldnu2019t be that long to process a new social security card and why is my name wrong when they have all my documents. And canu2019t even make an appointment for name change so good luck sending your important original documents to them.nnUpdate: received my social security card August 12 but it was WRONG. I donu2019t know how they made that mistake when they have all the information/documents that shows the CORRECT NAME Iu2019m disappointed. I have to make an appointment to fix it. Went on August 9 and I will see how long would it take for them to send me a new card. Hopefully it is right this time.nnIt is august 24 and still nothing. Called them and they said ti wait 2 more weeks. Girl I need that card ti change my name on my drivers license and on my employer.

Given this is a governmental agency I of course expected the worst. I was very pleasantly surprised, The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was kind and helpful. Grated, this was my only interaction so YMMV

Called number to make appointment to replace my daughteru2019s social security card. Told by a very rude woman I had to print a form and send the original through the mail. She raised her voice at me and I raised mine. I confronted her with the recording stating that appointments are being made, and she said my business there didnu2019t qualify for a 5 minute appointment. She hung up on me after getting very rude. I wish I had caught her name.

I understand doing everything through mail or online due to Covid. However, having the option to apply for a name changed social security card online would be nice OR to send copies of original documents. They LOST all my documents. Unbelievable!! I called and apparently they will u201ccall meu201d if they ever find them. How about, be responsible with peoples hard to get and costly documents to begin with.

My daughter has no social, i been trying for a year to get her social security card. I have her affidavit form from the official office clerk herself, certified as well, and they still didnu2019t help me. I gave them every hospital paper of her birth. (Shes a 1yr old). They said none of that can be used as a identification form.. im so upset! My daughter has no medicaid and has not seen her dr because of this. I have a low income and am raising my other kids. If i can give them no stars i would!

I don't understand I call the local office they revert me to the website I go to the website only to be reverted to contact the local office only to be on hold now for 45 min and still counting. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! I am enlisting and this is what I have to look forward too....less than par customer service from our government agencies. Lord help us all!!
    Kelsey Read
Very poor customer service. When I asked for her name she refused to give it to me and then promptly hung up. I don't think this woman enjoys her job at all, she was very quick to get an attitude and when I asked her to please stop getting an attitude with me her attitude got worse. I did not get the help I needed before she hung up. I'm disappointed and I feel like I was used as an outlet for her frustrations.

No one answers the phone. I called repeatedly repeatedly for 30 minutes. Per thier official website, they're call volume is lower than usual they are not as busy as usual, yet I can't get anyone to answer the phone.

My wife immigrated to US and i called to get her SSN and the guy on the phone was very rude and had an attitude, he told me to get form i-94 from Department of homeland security, i called them and they said i dont need i-94 form because my wife is not a visitor she migrated to live here in the US and social security office should provide her SSN without i-94 form. They need to educate their employees so they stop giving false information and actually start helping people. Very disappointed!

I've been dealing with the social security office in fort wayne since covid hit. I understand the situation we are all in so I've been patient but now its been a year I keep trying to call to see if someone can help me but every single time I've called I got a different person at the fort Wayne location and the worse customer service!!!! After reading the reviews below on the Fort Wayne location. It sad to see nothing is being done about this. I know there is only so much one can do. But the employees seem like they hate their job and don't want to help anyone, just want to get off as soon as possible. I hope going forward even if the employees cant technically help, that the manager or someone see that this is an ongoing issue. Even the reviews below would agree.

I was about to come into the office to change my last name after I was married but decided to call to make sure I didn't need an appt. The gentle man I spoke to was very kinda and informative and ended up saving me a bunch of time!

If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would. Iu2019ve never had to deal with this location before today and honestly this is possibly the worst experience Iu2019ve ever had with a social security office. Asking for information and documentation for a replacement SSC for my son to be sent through the mail, according to his pediatrician and other trusted sources that should not be required, and floating around for approximately 14 business days. This is unreal and I donu2019t trust that my or my sons private information will be safe. I live no more than 10 mins away from the location and they still want me to send it in the mail instead... Bogus. I know how to wear a mask, gloves, ppe, etc.. heck, Iu2019ll wear two masks if itu2019ll save time make Fauci happy.

After reading the horror stories here, I was more than a bit apprehensive when I visited yesterday. I am not going to question the experiences of others but I must say my visit went very well. The employees, from the security guard who greeted us to the two young women whom I spoke with, were pleasant and very helpful. The wait time was acceptable considering how many people were waiting when I arrived. Overall, I have no complaints and was quite pleased with my experience. It is my hope everyone enjoys the same experience.

took quite awhile to finally talk to somebody, but my issue was resolved very quickly. greatly appreciated!

Hours says open drove 40 min to get my daughters card fixed says by appointment or phone only then itu2019s no you have to do it all online and you have to mail in your VALID DRIVERS LICENSE and not have it for about two to three weeks and go to BMV and get a paper copy for your self like really open your office up some people donu2019t feel comfortable mailing that kinda stuff with the risk of not getting it back but hey the rest of us have been working through the whole COVID situation and not missed work while they sit at home and answer a phone

Re Post once again 6-28-18 I had to deal with this employee named Ms. Goings she always has a very rude attitude when I am there and is a very unpleasant individual. I had been waiting an hour for an 2 second print out. I will confront her next time because whatever her problem is she needs to deal with it! I was there yesterday morning around 9:10am to get printouts, I went to window 2. That worker was rude and I felt disrespectful, she seemed to not want to help me at all, and she had a rude snap back when I was double checking that she understood all the paperwork that I needed. She was not friendly at all. People like her should be behind the scenes and stay far away from customer service. I have had her before and that encounter did not go well either, she didnu2019t help me like she was supposed to and a supervisor was informed. She really needs to be away from customers if she wonu2019t do her job professionally.
