    Impossible to get an appointment with this office. They either never pick up the phone, or their phones are always down.nEven though this location is 20 minutes away from where I live, I was forced to try the Rockford office, 50 minutes away.nI got someone on the phone right away, made an appointment for the next week, and I was in and out of the building in 4 minutes that day.nIn the meantime I still kept trying to call Woodstock in case I got them on the phone, since it was obviously more convenient for me to drive 20 minutes than 50. But that never happened.nAt least it's good to know that we can count on the Rockford office

    I would literally give a zero if I could. Literally do not care about anyone at all. Been calling for weeks nothing. Dial tones. Beat time to call is 2-4 pm. Still no answer. Security guards at the door wonu2019t let anyone in and apparently no one can make appointments there to even come in later. Utterly ridiculous

    I have tried calling SS and been on hold for an hour or better. I am sure alot of people have question i have only 2 and i do not have a computer either. Tried calling Chicago too. I can only laugh at the inconsiderate wait times for all of SS offices. Have not received my 2022 benefit letter. As all the years before i receied it in the beginning of December. When do they come out ??? Many people I know have received them. So this year i guess will be a surprise if it comes in the mail!!!!!!
    They keep you on hold for over an hour just to slowly pick up the phone and hang up. When you do get ahold of them (after 9 attempts), they have the worst attitude, almost as if you should already know all of the answers to the social security questions you have. Horrible experience.

    Honestly I am in shock by how nice they are and organized. The Waukegan office I had a horrible experience at and I lost all hope for and ssa buildings until I visited here.. someone from this office should train people on their job in other offices.office.. thank you for being profesional and curteous.

    This location is unprofessional. They honestly should be shutdown if they aren't going to do their jobs in the first place or fire everyone and get a new staff and freshen up the place. They are incredibly lazy. I have tried contacting them several times and nothing.

    Horrible facility. Told in person to call their number to schedule an appointment. Tried calling for days with no answer or response. Automatically hangs up on you after 20 minutes. Like this is where part of our tax dollars go? Security guard was rude. Never coming back to this location

    I would give 0 star to this place if I could. Called numerous of times, no one is picking up, once they do, they either automatically hang up or give you few minutes to talk and then hang up if they don't want to deal it. Extremely arrogant people who have no empathy or care for people's needs.

    As a relatively new, 88 year old widow, I am prone to being overwhelmed by the demands of life. My latest problem was losing or misplacing our 1099 reports from 2020. I had sought to obtain copies with no success until I called the Woodstock office and was blessed to connect with Tom. He was the most compassionate, cooperative gentleman I have met since my husbandu2019s death. He allayed my fears, took all the necessary information and promised he would send the copies when he next went to the office. The reports arrived on the day he promised, to my relief. There has to be a way in this stressful world to reward him for his compassion. I can only pray that someday, if he is in need, he will be blessed to connect with someone who is as compassionate and helpful as he is.

    Yes the wait is long but expected. It is clean and comfortable while waiting & I was lucky to have a few really nice people waiting near me. Bring a snack/phone/book or whatever. When I did get up to the window (also before when I snuck up to ask a quick question) the employee was possibly the best customer service oriented man I've come across for years! He answered my need & more giving me some advice on the next step in my retirement plans. I will be going back soon and hoping I get the same employee! Wish I had written down his name.

    When you check in, you receive a ticket with a number to be called. The wait at this facility is up to 1 1/2 hours. Chairs in the waiting area are very uncomfortable. They do have a board which is supposed to show the order of numbers in queue, but it doesnu2019t work. As of this writing, itu2019s been broken for a month and nothing has been done about it. Finally, they will NOT talk to you until your number is called; if you go to a window before youu2019re called, youu2019ll be ordered by a security guard (who sounds like a Secret Service agent) to sit down. The clerks are efficient and polite.nnIf you try to call the officeu2019s toll-free number, forget it! They NEVER answer their phones; their system keeps you on hold for 16 minutes, then disconnects the call. The national toll-free number is no better...they donu2019t answer any calls the beginning of a month and those calls are automatically disconnected.nnFinally, I was told by a staff member that the Chicago office is chronically understaffed. All correspondence from the Woodstock facility has to go to the Chicago office. Expect to wait up to ONE YEAR before you receive a reply from them. (Only the Kansas City office has no backlog.)

    People need to be realistic, this is a government office. They are under staffed due to government budget cuts, so yes, you will have a lengthy wait time. I waited 45 minutes before my number was called, but I've waited longer than that onholdwith the IRS.nnOnce I was being served the employee was knowledgable, friendly and exceedingly helpful. He competely handled my current request and gave me helpful advice about future situations. I left pleasantly impressed.

    Terrible terrible customer service. They hung up on and then didn't answer the phone after I tried calling back. Not sure why people working for the government were not trained in customer service. I'm so tired of dealing with these people. They don't treat people with respect and I honestly think they do what they want even with holding pay from people.
    Have been here twice recently and the women that helped me explained my issues with my card, but had this frustrated tone that was pretty condescending. Isnu2019t explaining social security matters your job? I donu2019t know why I got this sort of treatment when she seemed polite to the other people she helped.     People have to arrive an hour before they open to get out at the end of the day, I can dress for the winter weather but I can't stand 30 minutes to an hour and most of the people going there are disabled or a senior citizen they can't stand either. There is no benches to sit on, so I brought a chair the guard unlocked the door and said put your chair away. Please be compassionate to make our long waits bearable. Provide an outside bench. Maybe the homeless can sleep on it till morning, would that be so bad?

    First experience is bad, the officer work in the facility donu2019t represent the USA government job , all people here must wait over 1 hour to get their things done. I am here applying social security card for my younger one , we have wait already 1hour and 15minutes.     I was dreading going to the ssa for a long time now, but today I finally decided to go to do what I had to do. I gave them five stars because I had a good experience. Yes I did wait for over an hour but it is what it is, sometimes we have to wait to achieve some things. The gentleman that worked at the window where my number got called was very nice and professional, he knew what he was doing. Sometimes people get upset with employees at places like this but we have to try and understand them, they don't have an easy job and they're trying to do their job effectively as well as fast. I noticed while I was waiting there a lot of people came in, waited for a while and left, but when you go there you have to be prepared to wait so find the time. It's understandable that everyone of us is busy and time is only as much but plan a day for it and spare a few hours to get things done, otherwise you'll end up wasting another day with the same task.

I want my taxes back that fund this place.nn3rd time I'm here JUST to get a social security card, 40 people here, AND ONLY 1 F-ING TELLER TO HELP EVERYONE and NONE of the State employees here are in ANY rush to get anything done.     Went in a couple months ago regarding a survivors benefit for my daughter. The woman at the front counter was so rude to me! I was so angry with not only her lack of compassion, but her lack of knowledge as well. If you hate your job that much, then maybe it's time you leave. Oh, it's been 6 months and I still haven't received any benefits either.

    This place gives a bad reputation to government offices everywhere. Expect to wait to wait to wait for your turn at a window, and pray that whomever is working there doesn't make you wait all over again once you've told them what's brought you in. If you're not bedraggled on arrival you certainly will be at departure!

    Called the 800 number and was told the information I needed could only be given at a local office. Went to the local office and was told they couldn't give it to me and that I would have to request it in writing from a regional office. The office staff person was nice enough, but I didn't like wasting time and gas due to being lied to on the phone.

    The two girls and Tom who I spoke with were amazing Tom Is the nicest person I've talked to I've been trying since last December to change my name with the Waukegan office after being hung up on, talked down to and lied to this location is a life saver
