Hell on earth. Avoid if at all possible. Literally, if your thinking about getting married and changing your nameu2026. YOU MUST CONSIDER THAT YOU WILL BE INTERACTING WITH THESE PEOPLE FOR NEARLY A MONTH! You will spend hours on hold for a 30 second call where a woman yells at you. Seriouslyu2026 like one of those themed restaurants where the staff humiliate you and through food at you! Itu2019s like that, except you donu2019t get rolls! If you need to talk to a representative u2026 you can drive to another city or moveu2026. All viable options for avoiding this place.

I called to understand how to file a name change and the guy I spoke to was really helpful. He confirmed that appts are out a few months but I could mail my name change form or drop it in the drop box. He explained what proof I needed (including that I donu2019t need the ID thatu2019s usually necessary) and that I could mail it or put it in the drop box. He also told me to make sure to make a note that itu2019s a name change since the form is the same to just get a copy.

Made appointment via phone call. Went there with all the required documents. Got it done. They said i will get it in 2 weeks, didnt get it for like 5 weeks. Called them to find out why itu2019s taking so long. Man on the phone said they have no record that i have been to their office(with a rude tone). Told him the day and time of my appointment, took forever but he finally found my details. Said i will need to wait for another 2 weeks. I wish i can give zero star. Probably the worst service Iu2019ve received in the USA.

Went there for my first SSN application. I had all the required documents ready for them to review. Everything went smoothly. Got it done including waiting time in 30 min.

I'm 66, my Medicare B was terminated because SSA lost my cheque. I was never informed about this, no one contacted me. Eventually by calling SSA in Kankakee I found out who was looking after my case. I have tried to call that agent, a Mr John Young, over 40 times. He never answers or calls back.

What a joke. Called Friday and guy said to come in Monday morning so I can start my name change and new ss card application. Said I didnu2019t need an appointment. Show up and office is locked. Employee yelling through door to tell me they arenu2019t open to the public s I explained my situation and he proceeded to point at the number to call. Call the number and they have you on hold for hours with no answer. So glad Iu2019m paying $$$$ into this system and I canu2019t even change my name after getting married. Online system doesnu2019t work either, tells me to call the same number.

Staff (or whoever I spoke to) was extremely impatient and borderline rude. Hung up before I even asked all my questions. Waited for 20min and the entire phone call lasted for 3 minutes.

The ssa is reopen to wis. The hotline is really a s*, but the brunch officer seems ok and polite.

It took me four weeks to get an appointment. In my several tries, the woman that answered the phone ended all my calls (giving me no chance to explain myself) in the most impolite way. I'm on a J1 visa, I was in a rush to have my SSN, but they told me that I was not eligible for that during all my calls during these four weeks (which is not true). Thanks to that, I had to delay my health security insurance arrangement, with caused me a severe problem with the University. Finally, one day, she decided to give me an appointment.nnI have to say that the policeman in the office is the best, a professional and kind guy, he made my day and made me forgot all the trauma related to this issue. The world needs more people like him, and of course, less impolite people like the woman on the phone. She causes a lot of pain to vulnerable people.

It took them eight months to deliver my social security card, only one person there actually knows how to work and the rest would tell you to wait two more weeks.
    Tammie Hudson
The woman that took my call was very rude and unprofessional. She was cutting me off mid sentence and talking at me not to me..Very unhappy with the customer service.

Instead of waiting inline for nearly 2 hrs due to long line, the service is ok and smooth.
    Peilin He
Waited a long time for agent on phone call but she was really rude and ended the call before I can ask any questions even thought I asked her to wait.

I have a sent off for my daughters social security card 3 times and I have not received anything and the associates are not help they have all been dismissive to the situation and they will not let you through to a manager. My daughter hasnu2019t gotten her card yet and sheu2019s only a few months so Iu2019ve been waiting to get her number since birth champagne social security office is by far the worst office Iu2019ve had to deal with .

Donu2019t ever call the office in the morning, itu2019ll ruin your day. The woman was yelling so loud I think Iu2019m deaf right now, and I donu2019t even get the appointment because she hung up when I was still talking. She said to u201ccalm myself downu201d when she was yelling and being so rude! Amazing, 5 stars for attitude and professionalism.

Don't bother calling this office. The woman that answered was one of the rudest people i've ever talked to. Instead of answering the questions I had her response waslook on the websitewhich actually doesn't answer the questions at all.
    ibrahim pehlivan
They are rude. Zero empathy. Still waiting to get my SSN number for 1 years...
    Nick Yue
Awful service.nThey just blatantly ignore all your concerns in an impatient and condescending manner. I called them twice about the same thing and their preventatives told me two different stories. We are all in this damn pandemic but this is not an excuse for such inhumane and unprofessional service!
    Daniel Turkowski
Got there 10 minutes before it opened and there were already 10 people in line. However, I was out of there within a half hour and both my questions were answered. The security guard there was very helpful and friendly. The lady who assisted me worked efficiently and was knowledgeable, and she was friendly as well. Was very satisfied with visit and would recommend going early
    Matt Austin
Horrible experience. I was attended by phone by a rude and unpolite woman. They deal with people in the most unpleasant way. It's not ethical to treat people like that. I'm very unhappy with the experience.
    Neethu B
Unbelievably pathetic! Very inefficient, undertrained and uninformed employees.

called on the phone to schedule an appointment, said I was on an F1 visa, the woman just cut me off and ended the call before I could ask my question.
    Bill Tao
Tried to make a reservation and 2 agents give me 2 totally different answers. Plus the woman agent is OUTRAGEOUSLY RUDE. Would have given 0 stars if possible.
    brandy kelly
Gave it 4 stars because of the friendly security guard. I would of gave 2 stars because I turned in my check stubs before one of the employees retired but got an call in the middle of the month saying they didn't receive them was I was upset and praying nobody else gets ahold of my information because I'm just confused on how someone can misplace someone's check stubs

Due to pandemic you need to book an appointment to visit the social security office at country fair drive Champaign.nThe staff were very helpful.
    Wenjia Sun
There was a long wait before the call was put through but the woman was so rude.Really bad experience.zero star .

I went into the office back when I was having trouble with my vision and was told to apply on the computer, but don't have access to one so that is why I went to the social security office to begin with!!nI just had a small stroke and got out of the hospital on Wednesday the eighteenth. I cannot drive a car, as I have not received and not been released by my doctor. I cannot write anything except scribbles. Have to re-learn how to write. I can't even write my own name!!
    Paul Garrett
I called the phone number listed on the website. I hung up after 45 minutes. All I wanted to do was make an appointment. I tried the on line website exactly like they want you to, but my issue was not solved so I guess I will show up early and probably be told that I need an appointment. Frustrating
    Kishan Patel
They need to learn to be a little more nice and have a better attitude, I get it you're stuck talking to people all day but don't make our day worse just because you aren't enjoying yours.
    Lance McGrew
A concern is the lack of privacy. People in the waiting area can hear conversations of those talking with staff. Some of the staff have voices that are loud enough to actually pick up on details that should remain confidential.
